Right to Education Campaign
The Right to Education Campaign was set up by Birzeit University to reach out to academics, students and campaigners worldwide to support the right to education in Palestine.
The aims of the Right to Education Campaign are:
1. To document, research and raise awareness of the issues facing Palestinian education under Israeli military occupation.
2. To build an international campaign in support of Palestinian students, teachers and educational institutions.
3. To oppose the illegal Israeli occupation and its attacks on Palestinian education, demanding the right to education and unimpeded access for all Palestinians to their educational institutions.
The Right to Education Campaign aims to create international networks of solidarity and support between Palestinian students and academics in Palestine, with fellow students, academics and campaigners all over the world. We want to draw international attention to the issues facing Birzeit University and the attacks and obstruction of Palestinian education as a whole under Israeli military occupation, through creating active links with our friends and supporters in universities, organizations and unions worldwide, as well as joining forces with students and faculty at other Palestinian universities.
Through the ongoing documentation and provision of information, as well as building an active campaign network in Palestine and worldwide, the Right to Education Campaign seeks to raise international awareness about the obstruction and denial of education in Palestine and to bring pressure to bear on governments, decision-makers and ultimately the Israeli authorities to guarantee safe and free access of all Palestinians to their educational institutions.
The Campaign Committee is composed of faculty and administrative staff from a number of departments and institutes within Birzeit University. It is a volunteer committee that brings together individuals with skills, knowledge and experience directly relevant to the campaign.
