Resumption of Work and Classes at Birzeit University Campus

The total closure of the Checkpoint at the Ramallah-Birzeit Road was apparently lifted on October 15, 2003. The Israeli army soldiers who were manning the checkpoint allowed individuals to cross the checkpoint by foot.
A number of students and faculty members were able to reach the University. While some of the University's administrative offices were able to resume their work on a partial basis, classes could not be convened.
The University administration has issued a call to students, faculty and staff to try to reach the University in of resuming all its academic and administrative activities on Thursday October 16, 2003.
