Road to Birzeit University Remains Closed for a Fourth Day

Today, Saturday, October 11, 2003, the Ramallah Birzeit road remained closed to all individuals attempting to cross from Ramallah to Birzeit University and the surrounding villages and towns.
This forced the University to suspend all its activities for a third day. On Fridays and Sundays the University is normally closed.
The closure of the road in one direction - from Ramallah to Birzeit - suggests that the University is being directly targeted by the Israeli occupation forces.
The University sees this disruption of its academic and community development activities as a serious matter which violates all international norms and threatens academic freedom.
