Student Activist Arbitrarily Detained and Tortured by Israeli Occupation Forces

Umar Mousa Muhammad Ala-al-Din, a 25 year old Palestinian student from the village of al-Ma'sara, near Bethlehem, was taken by Israeli Border Police and detained for seven days, until 22 March 2010. Ala-al-Din is a member of the Popular Resistance Committee of al-Ma'sara village and an organizer of non-violent protests against the Annexation Wall. Whilst in custody, Ala-al-Din was verbally and physically assaulted, causing serious injury, and was denied necessary medical treatment.

Ehab Fadel Beir Ghouthi, who was shot by Israeli Occupation Forces on Friday during the weekly demonstration, has been in intensive care since reaching the hospital in Ramallah. On Monday 8 March, after a few days of slow improvement, he was reported to have gone into a coma. Doctors have not been able to give precise information about his condition. 
IOF Destroy School in Khirbet Tana

The Israeli army rolled into Khirbet Tana, a village east of Nablus with a population of about 300, in the morning hours on January 10, 2010. They then destroyed about thirty structures, including a school, homes, and shelter for farm animals. This destruction stems from a court ruling issued in February 2009 that cannot be appealed, stating that all structures in Khirbet Tana must be demolished, and the farmers removed from their land. The Palestine Monitor takes a look at the situation that Khirbet Tana faces, and how the villagers are trying to rebuild their lives.
