Birzeit University announces the signing of a new collaboration agreement between its Right to Education (R2E) Campaign and the Norwegian Student’s and Academic’s International Assistance Fund (SAIH), with funding from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), to implement the project “Safeguarding the Right to Education in Palestine”  for the year 2026.

This collaboration aims to strengthen the resilience of Palestinian education in the face of systematic violations targeting students and academic institutions by building a sustainable, student-led advocacy model grounded in human rights documentation, capacity building, digital media, and international solidarity and advocacy.

The project will also train a network of students through programs in advocacy, legal documentation, research, and digital campaigning.

Students will lead the development of innovative advocacy tools, including a bilingual podcast, a documentary film on the destruction of education in Gaza, the relaunch of the campaign’s website as a knowledge and solidarity platform, in addition to local and international events such as Right to Education Week.

For the Right to Education Campaign, this agreement represents not only financial support but also a strategic solidarity partnership that helps amplify Palestinian student voices within international academic and human rights networks and strengthens transnational solidarity in defense of academic freedom and educational justice.

This cooperation builds on SAIH’s longstanding engagement in supporting student-led initiatives globally that link education with liberation, decolonization, and social justice. The partnership with Birzeit University’s R2E Campaign reflects a shared space for cooperation around these deep values through documentation, advocacy, and student empowerment within international solidarity frameworks.
