Over the last week, Israeli forces has detained at least 26 people (Ma’an, IMEMC, and PNN). Many of those detained have already been released: of a group of seven women arrested near Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, only one remains in detention. She is charged with using the camera on her mobile phone to film Israeli soldiers touring the area.

While such arbitrary arrests are inexcusable in and of themselves, disruption of the education of those arrested is also of serious concern. One detainee, for example, is Niyam Nimer al-Rajbi, a seventeen year old girl arrested near the Ibrahim Mosque. Her current location is unknown.
